Frequently Asked Questions About The Electronic Gay Community Magazine

How long has EGCM been published? The magazine has been continuously published since 1988.

How is that possible? The world wide web hasn't been around that long. EGCM actually pre-dates the world wide web of the internet. Originally the magazine could be viewed on more than 50 gay and gay-supportive computer bulletin board systems across the United States and Canada via modem.

How often is the magazine updated? Constantly. Keep checking for updates.

I heard about something on television but couldn't find any mention of it in the magazine. Why? EGCM is committed to providing news and information important to the gay community that you can't find anywhere else. A story that is getting lots of coverage from traditional media probably won't be found in EGCM unless there is an angle that other media have overlooked.

I sent in a news story for the magazine, but it never appeared. Why? There could be a number of reasons for this: 1) It was a copyrighted story from another source. We cannot use such materials. 2) We just ran another similar story. 3) We ran another story in that section of the magazine and don't want to fill it up. 4) The story did not fit the EGCM stylebook. 5) Readable text could not be extracted from the file or fax. 6) The story was not gay related or did not fit into any of the available magazine sections. 7) The release was a self serving commercial attempt at free publicity with little news value.

Can you help me find a partner? EGCM does not have a personals section. There are plenty of other online sources for this information. You might try a 900 service. EGCM often runs ads for these companies. It is an interesting way to meet people and phone sex is about the safest sex you can have. We will not forward the names of people who write to us, nor will we forward your own name, even if you ask us to.

How can I send you a news release? There are lots of ways:
